We are keen to hear from you and receive your contributions on examples of housing and housing improvement that are self-generated and/or community-led and have attempted to or have the potential to influence practice and policy from any city across the globe. Your contributions will be received by the researchers of Inhabitations and they will be in touch to discuss how the research into this area could be expanded and included in pedagogy and design training.

PART 1: Profile of the Neighbourhood

Place Of Project/ City/ Country

a. Who owns the land currently and how did they get it, what was the land used for before this? Who made the building? When?

b. Where did people come here from? What were their backgrounds? What were their occupations?

c. How many households live here currently? What are their occupations?

d. What are your tenure relations - do you own, rent, etc? How much do you pay as rent? Can you sell these premises? What documents do you have to prove your tenureship?

e. Are there places in the neighbourhood, where people meet / recreate / etc? Do you celebrate common festivals / have common programmes? Where?

f. Are there fights, conflicts in the neighbourhoods - what are the reasons?

g. Do people from the neighbourhood help each other - in times of illness / medical emergencies; financial distress; emotional distress; any other problems

h. Are there neighbourhood vulnerabilities - floods, unkempt outdoor spaces; light & ventilation issues, issues of densities and crowding, absence of spaces for joint activities, etc?
